Weddings are fun and a great time celebrate with your friends. It can also be a huge drag when you are the last single standing. All of your friends are married or engaged, yet you are single. Perhaps not even dating, it may be hard to keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart, even if you truly wish your friends well.
First of all ask yourself if you really want to be married. Are you just feeling left out or do you really want to be married? Do you just want attention and a big party? This is a good time to remind yourself that weddings are easy; marriage is not.
Pamper yourself as you go to wedding showers and all of the other wedding related parties. Buy a new dress, get a massage, do whatever you need to do to celebrate you while you go about the business of celebrating with your friends.
Don’t allow your envy to ruin the idea of marriage and weddings for you. Even if you don’t like the idea, you do like your friend! While it may seem ridiculous that your friend is obsessing about wedding decorations and favors, remember that it is important to your friend, and focus on her happiness.
The worst thing you can do if you are feeling down about the wedding is to get on social media. You friend and their friends will be plastering the world with pictures of rings and cheesy messages about the wedding. If you have to temporarily block them on social media for a few days, that is perfectly all right.
Be honest with yourself. If you are jealous, face those feelings. You can be honest with your feelings and still be happy for your friend. You can have a sane conversation telling your friend exactly that.
Most of all, remember that everything happens in its own time. Everyone is different. Think about what you love about your life. Celebrate yourself. Enjoy the journey you are one right now. Be patient and enjoy what you have while you live your life.
